The Samar and Leyte regions aren’t really on my priority list of places to visit in the Philippines. When a friend was relocated to Tacloban for work, we decided to do some exploring last February. I didn’t have any expectations and it turned out to be quite an experience!
Since we only had 4 days and attractions were quite far from each other, we decided to do a relaxed trip and just cover 2 places: Sambawan Island in Biliran and Kalanggaman Island in Palompon, Leyte.
First of Cebu’s many islands that I finally got to visit – Bantayan island in the north!
It takes 3 hours by land plus a 1 hour ferry ride from the city to get here. It takes some effort but is definitely worth it if you want some peace and quiet. Wish I could have stayed longer to maximize the trip!
El Nido.. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
It’s the reliable crowd favorite, the one that earns a spot on the lists of bests in the world. Fascinating how this one small island can hold so much natural beauty and diversity, that it stands out of 7,107 others.
